Call for Nominations

The University Honors Program solicits nominations for the Elizabeth Wood Dunlevie Honors Term Professorships.  Candidates must be among the university’s most esteemed faculty.  The Professorships will be for a period of one academic year (2012-13), and Professors will each be responsible for teaching one course for the Honors Program in the fall 2012 semester on a topic of their choosing.  The course is to be a part of each professor’s regular teaching assignment for the fall term; that is, it is not to be taught as an overload.  Additionally, the Dunlevie Professors will be encouraged to participate in collaborative research and outreach functions with Honors students.

As compensation, the faculty members selected as Dunlevie Professors will receive $5,000 in summer salary in 2012.  Additionally, the professor’s home department will receive a payment of $2,000 and will be allowed to keep the fall course SCH (that is, the course will be listed in the home department but will be designated as Honors).  All funds are provided via the Dunlevie Endowment.  The Honors Program intends to name as many as three Dunlevie Professors for the 2012-13 academic year.

Eligibility.  Nominees must be tenured regular faculty at UF.  Departments are encouraged to nominate their most distinguished professors for this award.

Nomination Procedure.  Department chairs may nominate one faculty member from their department.  The packet must include

  1. A letter of nomination from the chair, outlining the faculty member’s qualifications for and interest in the Professorship.  This letter must also indicate the title and brief description of the proposed course for the fall semester.
  2. A current curriculum vitae of the nominee.
