Dr. Steve Dorman, dean of the College of Health and Human Performance, has accepted the position of president of Georgia College and State University.  Dr. Kelli Brown, the college’s associate dean, has been appointed to serve as interim dean effective Aug. 31, 2012, through May 31, 2013.

A national search will be conducted to find Dorman’s successor, and Dr. Glenn Good, dean of the College of Education, has agreed to chair the search committee.

Dr. Dorman was named dean in 2006. He came to UF from Texas A&M University, where he was chairman of the department of health and kinesiology. From 1986 to 2000, he was a faculty member in UF’s department of health science education, serving as director of the master of public health program shortly before he left for Texas A&M. His awards include National Health Educator of the Year from the American Association of Health Education.

Dr. Dorman has done an outstanding job serving UF during the past 24 years. Please join me in congratulating him on his new endeavor and wishing him the best of luck.
