Matthew Fajack, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Credit and debit cards have become a common method of paying UF for goods and services by students and campus visitors. The payment card environment has become increasingly complex as regulations, contracts, and electronic systems grow.

To stay current with the regulations, security, and systems issues affecting credit and debit card payments, a university-wide committee has been chartered to assist me in providing oversight and authority for the UF payment card environment.

The Payment Card Committee will act in a consultative and fact-finding role. They will assist in establishing university-wide policies and standards for the payment card environment. The scope of this committee will be the entire UF enterprise, as defined in the UF Annual Report. The Payment Card Committee will include rotating and permanent members from campus areas that deal with credit card processing, security, and privacy. The Payment Card Committee will develop policies and standards covering:
*Oversight and Authority
*Application Process
*Terms of Use Agreement for Merchants
*Credit Card Number Storage/Retention
*Processing Methods
*E-Commerce
*Contracts with Third Parties
*Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standards (DSS) Audit Requirements
*Training Requirements

I believe this governance model will ensure the privacy and security of payment card data stored, processed, or transmitted by the University of Florida. If you have any questions please contact Stuart Hoskins (shoskins@ufl.edu) or Rob Adams (rob@ufl.edu).
