This year’s benefits Open Enrollment period runs October 21 through November 8. The deadline to enroll or make changes is Friday, November 8, 2013, at 6 p.m. EST. During Open Enrollment, employees may make new elections and/or changes to all state, UFSelect and GatorCare plans for which they are eligible.  Any changes made during this time will become effective January 1, 2014.

Due to the Homecoming holiday, the Benefits office will be closed on November 8; however, enrollment changes can still be submitted for state and/or UF plans by the deadline using the appropriate online enrollment portals.  Employees should plan to complete elections early and may contact the Benefits office by November 7 at 5 p.m. if assistance is needed in completing their annual elections.

The most significant change this year is that OPS/temporary employees who work an average of 30 hours per week will be eligible for state benefits under the Affordable Care Act.   Employees determined eligible by the state should receive a packet prior to or during the first week of Open Enrollment.  In addition, our office has communicated directly about this change to all current OPS employees.

To help employees learn more about their benefit options, the following opportunities are available:

Benefits Fair, October 30, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Touchdown Terrace, Ben Hill Griffin Stadium

Information Sessions, HR Building, 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on October 23, 28 and 31, and November 4.

UFSelect counselor appointments; to schedule, visit  http://www.myenrollmentschedule.com/uf or call (866) 998-2915

Employees may visit http://www.hr.ufl.edu/benefits/openenrollment for more details on how to enroll, information sessions, important mailings and dates, and more.  For general questions, employees may also contact University Benefits at benefits@ufl.edu or (352) 392-2477.
