Appointment of the UF Faculty Ombuds

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Kenneth J. Gerhardt, Professor Emeritus, as the University’s first Ombuds for Faculty. This is a part-time position with the responsibilities of providing informal and impartial assistance to faculty seeking information on University conflict resolution processes. This position was proposed by the Faculty Welfare Council and supported by the Faculty Senate.

Dr. Gerhardt was appointed in September of this year, and he has an office in the UF Human Resource Services building. Dr. Gerhardt has considerable experience serving as a faculty member in the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences, as department chair, and as Associate Dean and Interim Dean of the Graduate School. He retired in August of 2013 after 35 years at the University of Florida.
