I am pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Cheryl Gater as the new Assistant Provost and Director of the University of Florida Office of Postdoctoral Affairs.

As Assistant Provost and Director of the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs Ms. Gater is responsible to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and provides support services, programming and a variety of administrative duties, including support of the university postdoctoral community. Ms. Gater serves as a liaison between the Office of the Provost, colleges and other offices and areas on and off-campus. She will maintain the daily operation of the Office of the Postdoctoral Affairs. She will serve as primary communicator for the Office of the Provost through various print and electronic communications, including serving as editor of various Academic Affairs websites. Additionally, she will provide institutional support for the assessment and reporting requirements of the university’s SACS accreditation, including maintaining all records of SACS related compliance activities and preparing the necessary reports and interim reports for SACS reaffirmation.

Ms. Gater obtained her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s in International Business from the University of Florida. She started at the University of Florida in the Office of the Provost in 1999.
