I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. David E. Richardson as Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences effective March 13, 2015.

Dr. Richardson has served as Interim Dean for the college since June 2014, previously serving as Senior Associate Dean and Professor of Chemistry. In the dean’s office, he has served since 2009 with a focus on faculty affairs in his Senior Associate Dean role. He previously served the college as Associate Dean for Research and was chair of the Department of Chemistry from 2000 to 2006.

Dr. Richardson received his Ph.D. in chemistry from Stanford University in 1981 and is a physical inorganic chemist whose work focuses on the study of kinetics and mechanism of chemical reactions. He started at UF in 1983 and was an NIH postdoctoral associate at Stanford and MIT before starting his career at UF.
