Joseph Glover, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs

A little over a year ago, this office charged a committee of faculty, deans, and Graduate School representatives to identify “best practices” for effective PhD programs. Their recommendations and policy suggestions were presented to the Faculty Senate this spring and the resulting feedback led to refinement of the proposed policy recommendations.

This policy document is now available at http://www.aa.ufl.edu/Data/Sites/18/media/policies/phd-program-policy.pdf . Please note that each item in the document may have two parts – policy and recommendations.  All departments are expected to implement policies as standard UF practice for doctoral programs.  All departments are encouraged to implement recommendations.  As programs implement these policies, we will continue to take feedback and will try to make the recommendations and policies responsive to program needs and evolving best practices.

For questions, please contact either Angel Kwolek-Folland, Associate Provost for Academic and Faculty Affairs at afk@aa.ufl.edu or Paul Duncan, Senior Associate Dean, Graduate School at pduncan@ufl.edu.
