UF Search Procedures to fill an Endowed Chair (or Eminent Scholar Chair)

David R. Colburn, Provost

  1. Search Committee:
The President, or his or her designee, shall appoint a search committee after receipt of a proposed recommended committee from the Provost and the appropriate Dean or Director. The Search Committee may include multi- department representation, alumni or other external members (but not the Donor or his or her representative) as appropriate for the specific search.
  2. Search Procedures:
    1. Any proposed candidate must satisfy the specific restrictions; if any, set forth by the Donor.
    2. Generally, the Search Committee shall conduct a search taking all reasonable steps to ensure the widest possible range of qualified candidates are included in the pool of potential candidates.
    3. The search pool may be limited to current members of the UF faculty, with the approval of the Provost and President, as appropriate.
  3. Selection:
The Search Committee shall report to the appropriate Dean or Director regarding the candidates. The Dean or Director shall consult with the Provost and President. The final selection and appointment shall be made by the President, who shall ensure the candidate satisfies the specific requirements for the position.
