Approximately three years ago in 2005, Dr. Mike Conlon was assigned additional duties focused on PeopleSoft implementation. With the implementation of PeopleSoft complete, we write to announce the following changes. Dr. Conlon will return to his duties centered on data infrastructure and IT architecture and will report through the CIO. Interim Vice President Appointment

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Larry Arrington as interim senior vice president for agriculture and natural resources.

Larry, currently dean for IFAS Extension, succeeds Dr. Jimmy Cheek, who in October was named chancellor of the University of Tennessee. Larry will assume his new position on January 12. A start date for the national search for the senior vice president position has not been set.

Alachua County One Half Percent Discretionary Sales Surtax Increase Begins January 1, 2009

Effective January 1, 2009, the University is required to begin collecting the additional Alachua County one half percent discretionary sales surtax (Alachua County Wild Spaces/Public Places Surtax).
