Nominations for the 2008 – 2009 Teacher/Scholar of the Year

Colleges are invited to submit nominations for the Teacher/Scholar of the Year Award for 2008-2009. Originating in 1960, this is the University of Florida’s most prestigious and oldest faculty award. It offers an honorarium of $5,000 in addition to other appropriate recognition. Current faculty members of the University are eligible for consideration for this significant award.

Duke University announced today that Kyle Cavanaugh has accepted a position there as Vice President of Human Resources. He will be leaving UF in January.

“Preventing Sexual Harassment” Online Training Now Available

Sexual harassment prevention training is now available to faculty and staff online. This “Preventing Sexual Harassment” online training course replaces training certification previously offered through sexual harassment conference attendance (Mini-Conference on Sexual Harassment, GET119).

State of Florida minimum wage will increase on January 1, 2009

Effective January 1, 2009, the State of Florida’s minimum wage will increase to $7.21 per hour. This is up from the $6.79 per hour minimum wage in 2008 and applies to all employees in the state who are covered by the federal minimum wage. Florida law requires the Agency for Workforce Innovation to calculate a new minimum wage each year and publish the new minimum wage on January 1.
