Fee Deferment for Graduate Students on Appointments

Effective immediately, a new policy has been adopted that will permit graduate students on appointments (Teaching Assistants, Research Assistants, Graduate Assistants and Fellows) to defer the payment of fees (building, activity and service, transportation, etc.). The fall 2008 fee payment deadline for students on appointments is November 21. All other graduate students are still required to pay fees by the September 5 deadline. Equipment Use Fees

We are now accepting applications to establish Equipment Use Fees as allowed by the Florida Statutes FS1009.24(13)(n).

The Equipment Use Fee program allows units to charge for significant equipment that is used to prepare students for their career or profession and is used for instructional purposes only with direct use by the students. Please review the Equipment Use Fee Development Guidelines for specific definitions and applicability.

We are now accepting applications to establish or adjust Material and Supply Fees for the Spring 2009 term. Please submit your requests no later than September 9th, 2008.

All existing fees should be reviewed to determine if you are charging the appropriate fee to cover the resources needed. Amounts exceeding $50 per course for Material & Supply Fees must be substantiated on the Material & Supply Request Form.

We have scheduled workshops for those interested in the process to discuss the preparation of tenure/promotion packets and the University evaluation process for 2008-2009.

We encourage faculty who will be submitting packets this fall, the staff who will be assisting with the preparation of packets, members of this year’s college/unit review boards, new hires, and other interested faculty who may be going through the process in the near future, to attend one of these sessions.

Effective August 15, 2008, positions funded by grant, practice plan, auxiliary, or other sources will no longer require an exemption request form prior to posting the position. Exemption request forms continue to be required for state-funded positions.
