Effective January 1, 2006, Florida’s minimum wage will increase to $6.40 per hour. This change will increase the state’s minimum wage to .25 cents more than the current $6.15 per hour minimum wage and $1.25 more than the national minimum wage of $5.15 per hour.

The program provides an internship experience for faculty members interested in gaining some hands-on experience in university administration. The Provost Fellows work on special projects with the Provost or Associate Provosts and also participate in various activities of the office during the semester. The Federal General Services Administration (GSA) has changed the standard mileage rates for use in computing the reimbursement for operating an automobile for business purposes.
Beginning October 1, 2005, the standard mileage rates to reimburse for the use of a privately owned automobile for business purposes will be 48.5 cents per mile for all business miles driven. This increase is in effect only until December 31, 2005. I anticipate GSA announcing rates effective for 2006 sometime this Fall.
