Administrative Overhead Assessment

This is to notify you that the administrative overhead assessment on Auxiliary and Miscellaneous Gifts & Grants (MG&G) accounts will increase from 2.5% to 3.0% of expenditures effective July 1, 2004.

As advised in our June 2003 letter, the University’s costs associated with fully implementing the UF Bridges System dictate this assessment increase. I am very pleased to announce that Dr. Carmen Diana Deere has been appointed as the next Director of the Center for Latin American Studies, beginning August 15, 2004. She will take over the position from Dr. Charles Wood, who is stepping down to return to research and teaching after having served as Director since 1996.

The program provides an internship experience for faculty members interested in gaining some hands-on experience in university administration. I regret to inform you that Dr. Chuck Frazier has decided to resign as Vice Provost for Information Technology and return to his academic home in the Center for Studies in Criminology and Law. Chuck has been in this office, serving as Vice Provost, since November 12, 1999. During these years, he has overseen academic affairs, including tenure and promotion, new building construction and renovation, and, most recently, Information Technology.
