Laptop Program Registration

Registration for the Laptop Program workshops will begin on Monday, October 16th at 11:00 a.m. Participants will register via the World Wide Web for courses offered in any of the four sessions: Fall B, Spring A, Spring B, Summer A on a first- come, first served basis. OIR will work with individual faculty to resolve schedule conflicts.

This more flexible scheduling is designed to assist faculty in fitting the workshops into their schedules.

Sesame Street Live Parking Impact

Decal restrictions will be lifted on October 26, 2000 in the following lots to accomodate attendees of Sesame Street Live.

The North Parking Lot (Orange 2 and Commuter Lots)
East Parking Lot between the Football Stadium and the O’Connell Center (Orange 2 and metered parking)
West Parking Lot (Orange 2)The North End Zone and North Track & Field lot will also be used for overflow.

New Consumer’s Certificate of Exemption

Please be advised that our office has received the new State of Florida Consumer’s Certificate of Exemption, which will be effective November 14, 2000 through November 14, 2005.

Any requests for this certificate must be made to Disbursement Services at 392-1241. The certificates will be sent to “Vendors” only, not to individual departments.

If you have any questions, please call Barbara Bennett at 392-1241 (Disbursement Services) or Aileen Foote at 392-1321 (University Controller’s Office).

Colburn Named Permanent Provost

Dr. Charles E. Young has announced the appointment of David Colburn to serve as provost and vice president for Academic Affairs effective immediately. Dr. Colburn has served as interim provost since November of 1999.

Computer Literacy

As you are aware, the University of Florida has undertaken a significant effort to upgrade the technology infrastructure in order to support its teaching and research mission. In addition, we have launched an effort to support the faculty use of technology in the classroom. The Office of Academic Affairs now proposes a second stage in our planning for the use of this infrastructure, one designed for enhancing students’ computer skills.
