I am pleased to announce that Norb Dunkel has been named Director of Housing at UF, effective June 26, 2000. Dunkel will be replacing James Grimm who is retiring at the end of this fiscal year. Dunkel currently serves as Associate Director for Staff and Student Development for the Division of Housing.

The Board of Regents has approved two name changes. The College of Architecture is now the College of Design, Construction and Planning. The Department of Architecture is now the School of Architecture.
The newly-named College of Design, Construction and Planning is composed of two schools, the Rinker School of Building Construction and the School of Architecture, plus the three departments of Interior Design, Landscape Architecture and Urban and Regional Planning.

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Neil Sullivan, Professor of Physics and Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, has accepted the position of Interim Dean for the College. As of April 18, 2000, the University of Florida has updated its copyright information web page. While no changes have been made to previous laws, new information has been added relating to multimedia, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and music on the Internet.

Preview, the University of Florida two-day freshman orientation program, began last week. As a result, new students and families will be in large numbers across campus, and we appreciate your support. Between 320 and 400 students and their families are expected to attend each session. Effective July 1, 2000 all faculty on OPS funds will be classified with the Board of Regents modifier “Adjunct” as stipulated in 6C1-7.003. This will conform the University to the Board of Regents UFF Agreement that only “salaried faculty” can be a member of the bargaining unit.
