Ms. Martha V. Varnes, Lieutenant Colonel, University Police Department, will be retiring from the University on June 30th. A reception will be held in her honor on June 29th from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the Gator Room, Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, Gate 1. Please join us in showing our appreciation for Martha’s 38 years of outstanding service to the University community and in extending best wishes for the future.

Revised Contract for Stationery, Envelopes and Business Cards

Effective July 1, 1999, UF Printing and Graphic Services will no longer print stationery and business cards and therefore is no longer part of the university’s contract for official stationery, envelopes and business cards. The contract (bid #99J-33YC) remains in effect for the year ending June 30, 2000, with printing provided by Double M and Ameriprint. As I’m sure you know by now, Printing and Graphics will be closing effective June 30, 1999. In the past they printed and delivered two Purchasing forms, PUR 300 Requisition to Purchase and PUR 322 Other Personal Services Agreement. Effective July 1, 1999 these forms will be distributed as necessary by the four Purchasing Offices. In the future, PUR 322 will be available on the Purchasing WEB page.

Acceptable Use Policy for University Computing

The University of Florida has adopted a formal “Acceptable Use Policy” (AUP) governing the use of UF computer systems. This policy applies to all users of UF computing resources (computers, networks, labs, etc.). The AUP discusses such issues as rights and responsibilities, general rules, enforcement, security and privacy, commercial use, email and requirements for official web pages.

Training Schedule for Equipment Maintenance Insurance Program

Beginning July 1, 1999, the UF equipment maintenance insurance program will change to Specialty Underwriters LLC, an affiliate of CNA Insurance. Many departments still have the potential for increasing their savings on the plan. Training Sessions on the new program are being coordinated by Operations Analysis. Fiscal personnel from each department are encouraged to attend one of the following sessions:
