In accordance with University Policy on eligibility requirements for receiving Graduate Assistantships, pre-doctoral fellowships, and tuition payments, it has been determined that a clause will need to be added to all new contracts offered to Graduate Assistants. The Governor’s Office has declared Wednesday, Dec. 16, as an official day of mourning in memory of the late Gov. Lawton Chiles. Except for scheduled final examinations at the University of Florida and the Law School at Florida State University, Florida’s public universities will close.

Participation in the Direct Deposit Program

All employees, including OPS, should consider taking advantage of a timesaving benefit-the Direct Deposit Program. While faculty, A&P, and USPS employees hired on or after July 1, 1996, are required to participate in this program as a “condition of employment,” employees hired prior to this date also are encouraged to enroll.

Interim Director of the Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art Appointment

I am pleased to announce that Larry D. Perkins will serve as Interim Director of the Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art beginning December 18, 1998, and continuing until the appointment of a permanent Director. Mr. Perkins is currently Curator of Collections at the Harn, a position he has held since 1989. He received an MFA in Museum Studies from Syracuse University in 1988 and an MA in Art History from Vanderbilt in 1982.
