Graduate Student Scholarships
Susan Robell, Scholarship Committee Chair, University Women’s Club
The Board of the University Women’s Club has approved four (4) scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each to be awarded to graduate students this year. The student must, at least, be completing the first year of graduate study and must be a US citizen and permanent resident.
The awards for men and women are based on scholastic excellence, character, and leadership in their field. Please let us know of special financial needs as well. Only one student may be nominated by a department or program.
To complete the application process we ask that the faculty member send to us a letter of nomination giving a short resume of the candidate’s accomplishments and a recommendation in his or her behalf. Please provide us with the name, student ID# and address of the candidate. A curriculum vitae prepared by the student may accompany the nomination. This nomination must be received by May 15, 2008.
After a review of all candidates by the Scholarship Committee, four scholarship winners will be selected. The professor nominating the student will be notified of the award as will the winners. Scholarship checks will then be mailed to the students directly.
We welcome and encourage your participation in this program and I look forward to hearing from you. I may be contacted by telephone at 352-256-5569 or by e-mail at srobell@uff.ufl.edu. My mailing address is 5130 NW 48th Terrace, Gainesville, FL 32606.
