Minus Grades on Course Syllabi

Due to the institution of minus grades and the resulting changes in the grade point equivalencies of letter grades, all UF course syllabi must contain information on grade point equivalencies for the grades to be assigned in each course.

The UF Policy on Course Syllabi (see http://www.ir.ufl.edu/fac_handbook/syllabi.htm) now requires that all UF course syllabi must contain information on current UF grading policies for assigning grade points, even if the course does not use minus grades. This may […]

Please note that the format for the Summer 2009 Commencement Ceremonies has been modified from previous summer ceremonies. Faculty members being considered for tenure, permanent status, and/or promotion in the academic year 2009-2010 must receive a copy of this memorandum along with the University’s “Guidelines and Information Regarding the Tenure, Permanent Status and Promotion Process for 2009-10” (found at http://www.aa.ufl.edu/tenure/). Both documents should also be given to new faculty to familiarize them with our tenure and promotion process. Faculty should be aware, however, that the “Guidelines” are updated annually.

President Machen Names New Senior Vice President for Health Affairs

I am pleased to announce the selection of Dr. David S. Guzick as the University of Florida’s Senior Vice President for Health Affairs and President of the UF&Shands Health System.

Dr. Guzick (pronounced Guh-zik), 57, Dean of the University of Rochester’s School of Medicine and Dentistry, will begin July 1. He also will serve as Chairman of Board for the Shands at UF Teaching Hospital and Clinics Inc.
