As you will recall, investment returns in the endowment investment pool were substantially down on September 30, 2008 (-8.29%). At President Machen’s request, the Foundation Board of Directors waived the policy-mandated reduction in spending bases of endowments that this result would have required.

Graduate students on appointments (Teaching Assistants, Research Assistants, Graduate Assistants and Fellows) will be granted a deferment for the payment of fees (building, activity and service, transportation, etc.). The spring 2009 fee payment deadline for students on appointments is March 20. After this day a $100 late fee will be charged. Employees’ 2008 W-2 forms will be distributed from University Tax Services (Room 24, Tigert Hall) to departments on January 28, 2009. Employees will also receive an Employee Year-End Earnings Statement which will assist them in comparing the amounts on the W-2 form to the earnings, deductions, taxes and net pay on their last biweekly earnings statement for 2008.
