We are now accepting applications to establish Equipment Use Fees as allowed by the Florida Statutes FS1009.24(13)(n).

The Equipment Use Fee program allows units to charge for significant equipment that is used to prepare students for their career or profession and is used for instructional purposes only with direct use by the students. Please review the Equipment Use Fee Development Guidelines for specific definitions and applicability.

Computing and Networking Services (CNS) recently completed an annual review of Telecommunications Rates. CNS offers 3 different kinds of telephone services – Centrex, Key Systems, and Voice-over-IP (VoIP). VoIP is now the lowest cost alternative.

It is with pleasure that I announce the appointment of Paul J. D’Anieri, associate dean of humanities at the University of Kansas, as the new dean of UF’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Paul will assume his new position July 1, 2008.

Paul has served as associate dean of humanities in KU’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences since 2004. In that role, he was responsible for 14 units, 200 faculty members and a budget of roughly $20 million. […]

Parking Decal Renewal Begins April 1, 2008

All University of Florida and Shands faculty and staff parking decals will expire on May 1, 2008. Please order your new decal by April 15th to assure receiving it on time and avoid receiving parking tickets.

University of Florida Purchasing Services, in a joint effort with Florida State University, is pleased to announce the secondary award of contracts to additional providers of laboratory supplies for Scientific Equipment, Lab and Safety Supplies.

These new contracts represent strategically sourced agreements benefitting the research community at UF. Through this negotiation the University was able to achieve overall savings of approximately 5% compared to previous pricing. All agreements are effective immediately.

Suncom Number Changes

The Department of Management Services has recently notified the University that there will be a change to the use of Suncom numbers. Effective April 1, 2008, the seven-digit Suncom numbers will no longer be in use.

For example, 392-XXXX numbers for the University map to 622-XXXX for Suncom. So callers who use Suncom to call UF by dialing 622-XXXX will now need to dial the regular ten-digit number 352-392-XXXX. Similarly, when calling out to former Suncom […]
