Proposed New Academic Enhancement Program

UF has proposed a new Academic Enhancement Program for undergraduate students that, if approved by the Board of Governors and the Florida Legislature, will enable the university to hire 200 new faculty members and 100 new academic advisers, resulting in smaller classes, a higher four-year graduation rate and a more rewarding college experience.

Information Technology Security Awareness Day

The eighth UF Information Technology Security Awareness Day (ITSA Day) will be held this Wednesday, November 8, in the Reitz Union Auditorium. The all-day event is sponsored by the Office of the Chief Information Security Officer and will be hosted by the UF IT Security Team.

Central Funding for Wall-Plate Network Services

Colleges, departments, and administrative units are responsible for providing local network connections within their buildings. As an alternative to “do-it-yourself”, CNS began offering Network Services to the Wall-Plate for a monthly fee. About 40% of the network ports on the main campus (10,000 of 25,000) are now managed by CNS under the Wall-Plate program.

New Compressed and Cryogenic Gas Contract

Purchasing Services would like to announce the award of the new “Compressed and Cryogenic Gas” contract. Term contract ITB07TO-112TC effective November 1, 2006 has been awarded to Airgas South. Airgas will be the sole University provider for industrial, specialty, medical, and cryogenic gases.
