This year’s benefits Open Enrollment period for UF employees kicks off September 19 and ends October 18. Open Enrollment is the only period during which changes to pre-tax employee benefits can be made unless you have a qualifying event (e.g., change in marital status, birth, adoption). Any changes you make to your elections during open enrollment will be effective January 1, 2007.

I am pleased to announce the creation of an IT Governance Task Committee. The UF IT Planning Retreat on May 22, 2006 produced ten recommendations for the improvement of the campus computing environment. A next steps document was produced to outline short and long term actions that will be undertaken in response to those recommendations. Chartering the IT Governance Task Committee is a first step in determining strategic changes that will improve IT for the university.

Graduate Assistants United (GAU) and UF have successfully concluded negotiations, and the following benefits have been agreed to by both sides. This agreement is subject to ratification by both the GAU membership and the University Board of Trustees at its September meeting.

Introduction of GatorJobs—UF’s New Applicant Tracking System
Starting on October 16, 2006, UF will begin to use a new applicant tracking system—called GatorJobs—for all vacant jobs and positions. Powered by PeopleAdmin, this system will replace e-Recruit and will be used to post job requisitions for staff and faculty, including OPS vacancies.

2006-2007 Salary Increase Plan Processing
Effective August 21, 2006, university departments may begin the process of entering salary increases for eligible faculty and staff. These increases will be effective October 1, 2006 and must be entered by 5:00 P.M. on September 5, 2006.
