Holiday Season Advanced Vacation Leave

In preparation for the holiday season and leave requests, we are happy to provide you with this year’s policy on advanced vacation leave.

Vacation leave may be advanced to and used by Academic Personnel (who accrue vacation leave), TEAMS, and USPS employees who do not have sufficient amounts of leave to cover normal working hours for the period of December 13, 2004, to January 3, 2005.

I am very pleased to make two important compensation announcements for University of Florida employees. The first is a one-time bonus of $1,000 to eligible faculty, TEAMS and USPS employees and the second is a merit pay increase for eligible TEAMS and USPS employees.

The third annual Internationalization Seminar will be held on Monday, November 15 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Rion Ballroom at the Reitz Union.

Interim Associate Provost for IT

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Marc Hoit, Professor of Civil and Coastal Engineering, has agreed to serve as Interim Associate Provost overseeing campus IT. He will work with Vice Provost Chuck Frazier during the next month at which point Dr. Frazier will return to the faculty. Dr. Hoit will serve in this position until a new Provost is named.

Campus Comprehensive Master Plan Kick-Off Meeting and Committee Orientation

The University of Florida Comprehensive Master Plan will undergo its five-year update for completion by the end of 2005. Three committees, consisting of faculty, staff, students and community representatives will guide the process. As many of you are aware, we have had quite a few complaints from departments and colleges regarding the use of eRecruit for faculty position recruiting.

To resolve these concerns, continue with eRecruit for staff positions and for posting vacant faculty position announcements. Faculty job candidates should be asked to submit their applications and supporting documents electronically and through the mail, but not through eRecruit. November Payroll Schedule
