As of Noon today, the University of Florida will suspend all classes until further notice. Faculty and staff may choose to leave campus and will not be charged annual leave.

Studies conducted by the National Highway Safety Transportation Administration (NHSTA) of the US Department of Transportation reveal that loaded 15-passenger vans have significantly higher risk of rollover than passenger cars and light trucks. In response to these studies the UF Health and Safety Committee established the policy that requires all operation of 15-passenger vans to meet specified training requirements.

Please let your faculty and staff know that they have no obligation to allow students to place overhead transparencies advertising drink specials and/or nightclub ads on the projectors prior to the start of classes. This practice is becoming more and more common, especially in large lecture halls. The tacit approval it suggests may undermine our best efforts to encourage healthier choices on the part of students. An excellent resource for faculty and staff who share our concerns about student […]

Please note that the rate for purchase of steam on campus was incorrectly stated in my DDD memo dated 8/17/2001. This rate is contractually driven by a US Department of Energy natural gas cost index. The final actual index on which our steam rate is based exceeded that estimated at the time of publication. The actual steam rate is $ 5.08 / KLb which reflects a 41.5% increase over FY 2000/2001.

The University policy on Course Syllabi is now included in the web version of the Faculty Handbook (http://www.ir.ufl.edu/fac_handbook/syllabi.htm). Please advise all instructional personnel of their need to comply with this policy effective in the spring of 2002.
I know that most faculty already include this information on their course syllabi. Formalizing this policy ensures that we send a consistent message to advise faculty of important information that should be communicated to all students. Thank you for your assistance in disseminating […]
