Preview, the University of Florida two-day freshman orientation program, began last week. As a result, new students and families will be in large numbers across campus, and we appreciate your support. Between 320 and 400 students and their families are expected to attend each session. Parking for the program will be held in Parking Garage IV, near the check-in and on-campus housing location of Broward Hall. Check-in begins at 5 p.m. on the night before Preview begins.

Effective July 1, 2000 all faculty on OPS funds will be classified with the Board of Regents modifier “Adjunct” as stipulated in 6C1-7.003. This will conform the University to the Board of Regents UFF Agreement that only “salaried faculty” can be a member of the bargaining unit. Each year Academic Affairs offers the opportunity to extend current assignments for 12 month OPS faculty, post-doctoral employees, residents, interns, clinical fellows, and 12 month graduate assistants (Job Code C) in the personnel/payroll system into the new fiscal year via a computer listing. This procedure eliminates the time and effort it would take to prepare appointment forms for these employees.

It is time to begin planning for June 30, 2000, year-end closing. Departments are encouraged to submit invoices for payment as early as possible to ensure payment from current year funds. Outstanding encumbrances should be reviewed and any which are not needed should be closed.
