Reorganization

The University of Florida Foundation has created three new senior positions as a result of a recent reorganization. I am pleased to announce that two of these positions have been filled internally.

Effective August 4, 2000 L. Carter Boydstun will assume the responsibilities of Senior Associate Vice President for Development and Barbara J. Miles will become Assistant Vice President for Development.

Volunteer Group to Begin Night Shift Custodial Duties

On August 13, a second group of University of Florida Physical Plant staff members will begin new night shift duties. This group of 34 custodial workers joins 40 others who have already assumed night shift responsibilities. Those who volunteered to work nights will stay in their current building. Additionally, staff members working nights may choose to work in teams.

OPS Professional Employment Category No Longer Eligible For H-1B Status

The International Center began providing immigration services to departments hiring employees to fill USPS, A&P, and OPS Professional positions in June 2000. These employment categories were added to the services already being provided for faculty and postdoctoral associates.

I am pleased to announce that Ed Poppell has been named Interim Vice President for Administrative Affairs effective Sept. 1. He currently serves as Associate Vice President for Administrative Affairs, a position he has held since 1990.

Mr. Poppell’s UF career spans 29 years. He joined the university’s Finance and Accounting Division in 1971 after earning a degree in Business from Florida State University. He also holds a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Florida. […]

The Telecommunications Department is responsible for the distribution of the University of Florida campus directory and the BellSouth Gainesville directory. Our distribution list needs to be updated prior to the delivery of the 2000-2001 directories. Please respond to the questions in the attached form by August 31st. Housing, Student Government, Health Center, Shands, and off campus IFAS locations receive bulk shipments and do not need to respond to this memo.
