Research Opportunity Fund 2000 is created to provide early funding for new, potentially large-scale, faculty-initiated research programs that have the potential of becoming permanent, externally-funded programs within the University. The priorities for support include:

Major research initiatives that are intercollegiate and interdisciplinary and are intended to be funded by external sources that are accompanied by full indirect costs.
Matches for major research initiatives that are being developed by (and with financial support from) colleges.

State Vehicle Maintenance Records

The University Administrative Affairs Handbook on Business Procedures requires departments to ensure that timely maintenance is performed on any State-owned vehicle assigned to their department. Additionally, effective January 1, 1996, the University implemented procedures to provide for the annual safety inspection of all University-owned vehicles.

Earl Robbins Named UF Chief Information Officer

Earl Robbins has been named Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the University of Florida effective October 21. He served as UF’s interim CIO since May of this year.

Robbins joined UF in 1974 in the Office of the University Registrar. From 1985 to 1999, he served as associate registrar and director of systems. He has twice received Superior Accomplishment awards from the Division of Academic Affairs and he was a university-wide recipient of the Davis Productivity Award.

Users registered as textbook adopters may view adoption summaries for their departments at the “View a Summary of the Adoptions for Your Department(s)” link on http://www.textadoption.ufl.edu/. Combined Degree Programs

This is just a reminder that all combined degree programs should be designed to allow UF undergraduates to receive their undergraduate degrees prior to entering the graduate phase of the program. Programs in Engineering and Business that existed prior to the University-wide development of the combined degree program are exempted from this requirement, and students in these programs may enter the graduate phase before completing the undergraduate degree.
