Payroll Tax Rates for 1999

New income tax withholding rates will go into effect in 1999. The table for Percentage Method of Withholding shown on the reverse side may be used to determine your 1999 biweekly withholding tax. (see link below)

Cost Transfer Procedures

During the past three years, a University Cost Accounting Committee has worked to establish procedures that will make the University of Florida compliant with OMB Circular A-21 and the Cost Accounting Standards. In order to meet the requirement to identify and correct errors in the allocation of direct charges in a timely manner, the cost transfer guidelines were established and made effective July 1, 1996.

Scholarships for Non-Resident Alien Students

Scholarships paid to non-resident alien students are subject to different tax laws and rules than scholarships paid to other students. The university is required to withhold taxes from and/or report these scholarships to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The Governor’s Office has declared Wednesday, Dec. 16, as an official day of mourning in memory of the late Gov. Lawton Chiles. Except for scheduled final examinations at the University of Florida and the Law School at Florida State University, Florida’s public universities will close.
