Gerald Schaffer, Vice President for Administrative Affairs

After several years as Director of University Personnel Services, Jack Heidler has tendered his resignation in order to pursue other opportunities. Mr. Robert Willits has been named the Interim Director of University Personnel Services.

We are appreciative of Jack’s service and leadership in establishing a customer service oriented personnel office at the University of Florida.

Fiscal Year Cashout for Special & Overtime Compensation

University policy requires that USPS employees with special and overtime compensation be paid by fiscal year end. Student Employment and FICA Exemption

As a result of a recent Internal Revenue Service procedures change (98-16), the restriction limiting student employees to 20 hours of work per week to qualify for FICA tax exemption has been lifted. The new policy at the University of Florida, listed below, will be effective as of May 3, 1998.
