Physical Plant Division announced the electrical utility rate for the current fiscal year based on a fuel adjustment increase from Florida Power effective with the April 1st billing. This increase has been rescinded and a credit of $157,018.48 was issued to Physical Plant Division on the July invoice. We will credit this refund to our customers based on actual consumption for April, May and June. You will see this on your August invoice (received in September).

As most of you know, this new scholarship has been established for graduate assistants and fellows who demonstrate financial need. The scholarship is funded by a portion of the new tuition increase, which the Florida legislature has mandated to be used for need-based student aid. As with most other scholarships, these funds will be paid to eligible recipients through Student Financial Affairs (SFA) and University Financial Services (UFS).

Recently the University’s Intellectual Property Policy (formally Copyright & Invention) was revised. (See DDD Memo of the same name dated 07/22/97).
As a result of this action and effective immediately all student employees must complete the new “Four-In-One Form” (UPS 50, Revised 7/97) and it must be submitted with the student Assistant Appointment form (SP-100) in order to enter a student onto the state payroll system.

Central Purchasing has just learned that a few Ricoh fax machines are being given to the State University System (SUS) for free distribution to the ten State Universities. As of this time, only 60 of these units remain. These fax machines are from 1-5 years old and are in good working order. They come boxed with a users manual, but no toner cartridge. The continued UPS strike is causing everyone concern as many suppliers use UPS. Most of the books ordered from requisitions submitted to UF Bookstores by the deadline date were shipped to Gainesville before the strike began. In addition, we made contingency plans in advance with many of our supplies to ship remaining orders.
