This is a second reminder of the annual call for proposed changes to University of Florida regulations to be effective in the spring of 2017.  Any unit that would like to propose changes to University of Florida regulations (refer to the University of Florida Regulations website at http://regulations.ufl.edu) may submit such proposed changes to the General Counsel’s Office by  December 12, 2016.

Faculty and Staff Salary Increase Effective January 1, 2017

Earlier this year, President Fuchs announced an across-the-board salary increase for University of Florida faculty and staff. Under this program, eligible faculty and staff will receive a 1.5 percent pay increase effective January 1, 2017. In the coming months, there also will be impacts to compensation due to changes in the Fair Labor Standards Act and Florida’s minimum wage, as described below.

Material & Supply Fees/Equipment Use Fees

Applications to establish or adjust Material & Supply Fees and Equipment Use Fees for the Summer 2017 and Fall 2017 Terms are now being accepted.  All departmental requests should be submitted no later than Wednesday, February 1, 2017 and Dean’s approvals by Wednesday, February 8, 2017. Requests requiring Provost approval must include an explicit approval by the Dean, not a designee, and be submitted to the Provost no later than Wednesday, February 1, 2017.

UF Fall 2016 Open Enrollment Period and Benefits Fair

This year’s benefits Open Enrollment period began October 17 and runs through Friday, November 4, at 6 p.m. EST. During Open Enrollment, employees may make new benefit plan elections and/or make changes to all State, UFSelect and GatorCare plans for which they are eligible.  All changes made during Open Enrollment will take effect January 1, 2017.

Ceremonies: This fall, there will be three (3) university-wide commencement ceremonies.  A Doctoral Degree Ceremony will be held at 4:00pm on Friday, December 16th in the O’Connell Center.  On Saturday, December 17th, two combined Master’s/Specialist’s/Bachelor’s Degree Ceremonies, at 10:00am and 2:00pm, will be held in the O’Connell Center. Florida Hires Scott Stricklin as Athletic Director

Scott Stricklin has been named Athletic Director at the University of Florida, UF President Dr. Kent Fuchs announced on Tuesday.

Stricklin brings 28-plus years of experience in intercollegiate athletics to Gainesville, including the past six as athletic director at his alma mater, Mississippi State University.
