New Minimum for Graduate Students on Appointments Retroactive to August 16, 2009

A new collective bargaining agreement between the University of Florida Board of Trustees and the Graduate Assistants United was recently ratified. We are pleased to announce that the contract provides for an increase in the minimum stipend received by our graduate assistants. Each nine-month employee on a .50 FTE shall receive a minimum stipend of $9,500 for 2009-10 and $10,000 for 2010-11.

As in past years, the University of Florida has designated the Friday of homecoming week as a holiday. This year the date is October 16 and the campus will be closed the entire day. No classes will be held except for those in the Levin College of Law through 12:00 noon. Faculty and departments should submit their Spring 2010 textbook adoptions at http://www.textadoption.ufl.edu by November 1, 2009 so that this information is available to students during advance registration. This information is also available online to all bookstores to help them ensure appropriate arrival of texts for Spring term and better prices for student book buybacks.
