Once again I am pleased to share with you that endowment funds will receive another increase in spending bases. As you will recall, the Foundation recalculates the spendable base of each endowment quarterly. As of September 30, 2007 virtually all endowment funds have received an increase to their spendable bases. Beginning this morning, Monday, Oct. 22, when students log on to ISIS to register for classes, they will be asked to provide emergency contact information before they can proceed with registration.
This is part of the university’s ongoing effort to build a comprehensive emergency notification plan, which includes a multi-prong approach. Existing emergency notification methods include e-mail, posts on the UF home page and news releases.

Purchasing Services is pleased to announce the award to Fisher Scientific as the primary provider of laboratory supplies under UF Contract ITN07TO-135. This contract is effective immediately through April 30, 2012.
Through this negotiation the University was able to achieve overall savings of approximately 11% over the previous contract. This represents a projected cost savings of over $1,000,000 annually to the University of Florida.

Effective January 1, 2008, the state of Florida’s minimum wage will increase to $6.79 per hour. Florida’s minimum wage increase was created in a constitutional amendment approved by voters on November 2, 2004, and covers all employees in the state covered by the federal minimum wage. According to this amendment, any adjustment made will be effective on January 1 of each year.
