Holiday Closing Period

In addition to the Christmas and New Year holidays, the university also will observe a holiday closing period this year from December 26 through December 29. The holiday closing period is designed to offer departments the flexibility to close or significantly reduce staffing during the holiday season as decided by the appropriate vice presidents working with deans, directors, and department chairs in their areas.

Nominations for the 2006 – 2007 Teacher/Scholar of the Year

Colleges are invited to submit nominations for the Teacher/Scholar of the Year Award for 2006-2007. Originating in 1960, this is the University of Florida’s most prestigious and oldest faculty award. 2007 Mileage Reimbursement Rate for Travel

The General Services Administration (GSA) has released the standard mileage rates to use for 2007 in computing the reimbursement for operating an automobile for business purposes.

Beginning January 1, 2007, the standard mileage rates to reimburse for the use of a privately owned automobile for business purposes will be 48.5 cents a mile for all business miles driven.
