Fee Surcharges

Included below is a copy of a memorandum recently mailed to students who are expected to be assessed the statutory repeat course surcharge. It will be mailed to all undergraduate students in September, when the majority of local student addresses are updated.

The “excess hours surcharge” will not be implemented this fall since no legislative authority has been provided for the 1998-99 academic year.

Please assure that this information is circulated to all staff and faculty advisors.

University of Florida Travel Services Contracts

As announced in Controller’s Memorandum Number 99-04, issued August 7, 1998, effective August 24, 1998, the University has contracted with several travel agencies to provide travel services to the University of Florida. These travel agencies are referred to as “Preferred Travel Agencies”. Federal Work Study Institutional Matching

We are pleased to announce that effective August 12, 1998, the University of Florida will be changing the institutional match for Federal Work Study to 25%. This is a reduction from our current 30%, and will give colleges and departments a small increase in their funds for the academic year.

Information Services staff have made the appropriate adjustments to the payroll process, so no additional action is needed by the colleges/departments to implement this change.

This program is the result of a cooperative effort between the University, the State Comptroller’s Office and Nations Bank. Residency Code – The residency code for a student, which tells whether or not to charge out-of-state fees, is now displayed on both screens of an LOA record. It can be found on the same line as the student’s name. Tuition costs for the codes are:

Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs Catherine Longstreth will be leaving her position in university administration to move to the College of Education in the Department of Educational Leadership beginning August 4th.
