In response to the number of employee complaints lodged against Unisys, which is the state of Florida group health plan administrator, Governor Chiles and the Department of Management Services have arranged for a representative from Unisys to be housed at the University of Florida during the week of October 21 to resolve state employee complaints. Rental Vehicle Contract

Effective October 1, 1996, the State of Florida contract for rental of vehicles with Avis Rent-a-Car Systems has been extended through September 30, 1997. State employees are required to use Compact Class vehicles except when the number of passengers or the volume of materials to be transported make use of a Compact Class vehicle impractical. When requesting a compact class vehicle through Avis the vehicle type to specify is Compact Class 2(B) (Avis Class CDAR).

Student Employee Pay Rates

As most of you know, the federal minimum wage will increase to $4.75 as of October 1, 1996 and to $5.15 as of September 1, 1997.

This increase will effect student pay rates at UF. The federal minimum wage applies to all hourly student work programs at the University of Florida, including the Federal Work-Study (FWS) Program and the Other Personnel Services (OPS) Program.
