New Phone System for UF Student Health Care Center

The University of Florida Student Health Care Center has recently installed a new Siemens-Rolm Telephone System. We hope this new system will help eliminate past telephone problems that have been experienced by UF staff, students and the public.

New Area Code for the University

The University of Florida Campus and the Gainesville area will be assigned a new Area Code beginning December 3, 1995. A grace period where either the old area code “904” and the new “352” can be used and the call will still be completed will extend to May 20, 1996.

The Florida Government Safety Awareness Initiative, signed in 1992 by the Governor and Cabinet, mandated that all state agencies significantly reduce their workers’ compensation costs. New SUNCOM Dialing Plan

The SUNCOM Network must alter the dialing pattern for all its subscribers in order to maintain operability. On December 1, 1995, the new dialing plan will be implemented on SUNCOM. Calls to SUNCOM numbers (7 digits) will not change. Calls to Public Switched Network (NON-SUNCOM) numbers (10 digits) will require DIALING “1” prior to the number you are calling.
