There will be six university-wide commencement ceremonies coordinated by the President’s Office, as follows:

Distance Learning Fees/Dates and Deadlines

Applications to request Distance Learning Fees for the summer and fall 2017 terms are now being accepted through PeopleSoft. All departmental applications should be submitted no later than Friday February 24, 2017 and Dean’s approval is required by Friday March 3rd.

(Reminder, DL Fees applications are required each semester for all courses as they are not carried over.)

Each year the University Women’s Club awards up to 17 scholarships in the amount of $1,000 to junior or senior undergraduate men and women. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.6 and have demonstrated service to the university and/or community. These awards are given in honor of Former First Ladies of UF.

This means that only Pepsi products (including Aquafina bottled water and Gatorade) may be served on campus, or at the University Athletic Association, UF Foundation, UF Health and Shands Hospital properties. Union Agreements

A new three-year agreement between the University and the faculty union (UFF) has been ratified and will be effective January 1, 2017. Key elements of the agreement include:

1.5% raise, effective January 1, 2017, with wage re-openers in years two and three
Special raises to non-tenure track faculty and P.K. Yonge faculty earning less than $50,000

This is a reminder that no examinations or term papers should be assigned during the upcoming reading days (December 8-9, 2016).  No classes or exams should be held on reading days.  Students are encouraged to use these days for study and review.

Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Update

Last week, a federal court issued a nationwide injunction blocking the enforcement of the new Department of Labor overtime rule that increased the minimum salary threshold for exempt status to $47,476.  Prior to the injunction, this rule was set to be effective December 1.  Because the long-term impacts of this injunction are unclear, the University has made the following decisions:
