In keeping with past practice, the university will be closing for the holiday period of December 24, 2010, through January 2, 2011. The holiday closing period is designed to offer departments the flexibility to close or significantly reduce staffing during the holiday season as decided by the appropriate vice presidents working with deans, directors, and department chairs in their areas.

The University Honors Program solicits proposals for new courses for the 2011-12 academic year. Honors courses are typically capped at 25 students and are usually (though not always) taught in a seminar format.
