Procedures for University Scholars Program

In an effort to streamline some of the procedures for payment of the University Scholars Program (USP) stipend and research support, the following guidelines will apply:

Research Stipend

Payment of the University Scholar stipend this year will be made in two (2) lump-sum payments ($1,500 in May, $1,000 in August). The names of six finalists for the presidency of the University of Florida who will visit campus were announced at a meeting of the Presidential Search Advisory Committee (SAC) today. The candidates will be interviewed at the University of Florida by April 28.

2000 Decal Renewals

Current decals expire on May 1, 2000. In order to ensure that you do not receive any parking citations, decals should be renewed prior to this time. Decals can be renewed in several ways:

1) order them via the internet at www.bsd.ufl.edu
2) fill out and return the annual mail-out which you will soon receive in the mail or
3) come to Transportation and Parking Services’ Decal Office at the corner of North-South Drive and Mowry Road.

Inaugural UF Internet2 (I2) Day Scheduled for April 5

On April 5, the University of Florida will sponsor the inaugural UF Internet2 (I2) Day. It will take place in the Brain Institute Auditorium from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., with a reception to be held afterwards in LG100. This is the first in a series of lectures on advanced technologies in instruction and research scheduled to be held throughout the coming year.

Vehicle Use Records

Recent audit findings have shown that there are misinterpretations of the classifications of Service Vehicle designations. Service Vehicles are identified as those conveyances that operate a fixed route (Fixed Route Vehicles), have a fixed purpose (Fixed Purpose Vehicles), or are specifically assigned to a single operator (Assigned Vehicles). Vehicle Use Records (Form FA-UF-VUR) are required for all university owned motor vehicles, except certain Service Vehicles, farm equipment (i.e. tractors) and non- licensed equipment (i.e. golf carts).
