Effective immediately for budgeting purposes in all proposals that include salary support for graduate assistants and where tuition is not prohibited by sponsor, use the in-state graduate tuition rates effective for the 04-05 academic year as follows:

I am pleased to announce that UF will again participate in the 2005 Jefferson Science Fellow (JSF) Program of the U.S. State Department. UF can nominate two faculty members for consideration in this nationwide competition. A total of five Fellows will be selected for the 2005 program to work for a year in Washington, D.C. and abroad on science and technology issues that are of critical importance to U.S. Government policy.

As part of the community’s hurricane preparedness plan the University of Florida will close at noon tomorrow to allow its employees the opportunity to prepare for the approaching storm expected to hit Gainesville.

I wanted to let you know that Dr. Jacquelyn D. Hart has formally Retired as Vice Provost for Affirmative Action Programs at UF after 17 years. Dr. Hart oversaw Sexual Harassment Education on campus. Over 90 percent of employees have attended a mini-conference on sexual harassment, and UF has seen many improvements in this area as a result. She also initiated the Workshop on Diversity which has greatly improved communications in this area.
