Reitz Union room usage and equipment rate increase

A recent review of rates for rooms, audio visual equipment, and related services was completed by the Reitz Union staff along with the Board of Managers. Adjustments have not been made for several years, even though labor rates have increased significantly over the years as have other costs based on annual inflation. Part of the review included benchmarking other institutions comparable to UF and other venues in the surrounding area.

New Minimum for Graduate Students on Appointments Retroactive to August 16, 2009

A new collective bargaining agreement between the University of Florida Board of Trustees and the Graduate Assistants United was recently ratified. We are pleased to announce that the contract provides for an increase in the minimum stipend received by our graduate assistants. Each nine-month employee on a .50 FTE shall receive a minimum stipend of $9,500 for 2009-10 and $10,000 for 2010-11.

As in past years, the University of Florida has designated the Friday of homecoming week as a holiday. This year the date is October 16 and the campus will be closed the entire day. No classes will be held except for those in the Levin College of Law through 12:00 noon.
