It is my pleasure to announce that Dr. Mark Q. Martindale, Director of the Kewalo Marine Laboratory at the University of Hawaii has been appointed Director of the Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience as of January 1, 2013. He will be replacing Peter Anderson who has served as Director for 16 years.

After 27 years of service, Dr. Thomas Walsh has announced his retirement from the University of Florida effective April 15, 2013. He will be stepping down as Director of the Division of Sponsored Research (DSR) at the University of Florida effective September 30, 2012, and will serve as Associate Vice President and Special Advisor to the Vice President for Research for the balance of his term.

Dr. Steve Dorman, dean of the College of Health and Human Performance, has accepted the position of president of Georgia College and State University. Dr. Kelli Brown, the college’s associate dean, has been appointed to serve as interim dean effective Aug. 31, 2012, through May 31, 2013.
A national search will be conducted to find Dorman’s successor, and Dr. Glenn Good, dean of the College of Education, has agreed to chair the search committee.
